Setting up at Politeknik Negeri Batam, Indonesia

At EDIBON, we continue to bring cutting-edge educational technology to technical training centers around the world. One of our most recent installations took place at Politeknik Negeri Batam, in Indonesia, where we successfully implemented our Computer Controlled and Touch Screen 1.5 kW Steam Power Plant (TPTV/1.5kW/CTS).

This installation marks an important milestone in the modernization process of the institution’s educational infrastructure, reflecting its strong commitment to technological innovation in order to strengthen students’ practical training in the field of thermal energy.

A comprehensive system for the study of power generation from steam

The TPTV/1.5kW/CTS unit is a fully operational, educational-scale steam power plant, specifically designed to allow students to understand and practically experience the process of converting thermal energy into electrical energy. The system faithfully replicates the operation of a real thermal power plant on a laboratory scale.

The unit enables simulation of the complete Rankine cycle and includes the main components of a thermal power plant:

  • A heat source (steam generator) that produces the steam required to initiate the system.
  • A steam turbine coupled to a generator, where thermal energy is converted into mechanical energy and subsequently into electrical energy.
  • A condensation system, responsible for cooling and condensing the steam, thereby completing the cycle.

The entire system is equipped with computer control technology and an interactive touch screen, allowing users to monitor key process variables in real time (temperature, pressure, flow rate, generated power, etc.) and perform control operations and parameter adjustments with high precision. This capacity for monitoring and analysis makes the unit a powerful educational system for acquiring hands-on experience, interpreting real data, and gaining a deeper understanding of the system’s operation.

Practical training with a forward-looking vision

The installation of this unit not only adds technical value but also demonstrates a clear commitment to education that addresses the challenges of the energy sector’s future. Politeknik Negeri Batam, one of Indonesia’s leading technical institutions, has recognized the importance of providing students with access to advanced technologies that will prepare them for today’s demanding professional landscape—particularly in critical sectors such as energy generation and management.

Thanks to this collaboration, students are now able to safely experiment with a complete electricity generation cycle, reinforcing their knowledge through real tests, simulations, and energy efficiency analyses. Furthermore, the use of the SCADA software included with the unit allows the collection and evaluation of valuable data for teaching, assessment, and applied research purposes.

Committed to technical education at a global level

For over 40 years, EDIBON has been designing, manufacturing, and installing technical teaching equipment in universities, vocational training centers, and engineering schools in more than 150 countries. Our commitment to quality, innovation, and adaptability allows us to develop educational solutions like the TPTV/1.5kW/CTS, specifically created to meet the current training needs in thermal energy and industrial processes.

This installation in Indonesia is yet another example of how our technology can directly contribute to the educational, economic, and technological development of various regions, equipping training centers with the equipment they need to prepare students for the real-world challenges of the energy sector.

We would like to thank Politeknik Negeri Batam for placing their trust in EDIBON. We are proud to see their students already working with a system that safely and accurately simulates the core processes of a thermal power plant.
