Setting up at the Higher Polytechnic School of Universidad Carlos III Madrid

At EDIBON, we continue working every day to support the advancement of technical education through innovative teaching equipment that enable students to acquire practical knowledge effectively and realistically. On this occasion, we are pleased to share our latest installation at one of the leading engineering institutions in Spain: the Higher Polytechnic School of Universidad Carlos III – Madrid, specifically in the Department of Thermal and Fluids Engineering.

There, we have carried out the installation of several high-tech equipment, including the Computer Controlled Bench Top Cooling Tower (TTEC) and the Computer Controlled Heat Exchangers Training System (TICC). Additionally, we have installed several modules from the Basic Fluid Mechanics Integrated Laboratory (LIFLUBA), which provide students with hands-on training in hydraulics and fluid mechanics.

Practical training with state-of-the-art equipment

Both the TTEC unit and the TICC system are designed to offer a complete educational experience, making it easier to understand complex concepts related to thermal exchange and industrial cooling processes. Thanks to their computer control and didactic design, this equipment allow real-time monitoring of key process variables (temperature, pressure, flow rate, efficiency, etc.) and the simulation of different operating scenarios, greatly enhancing the learning potential.

The TTEC Cooling Tower reproduces, on a laboratory scale, the functioning of an industrial cooling tower. This unit enables the study of heat transfer between hot water and ambient air through direct contact, analyzing process efficiency, heat losses, and the influence of various operational parameters. It is an essential unit for students in thermal, mechanical, or industrial engineering.

The TICC Training Unit, on the other hand, allows the study of various types of heat exchangers (concentric tube, plate, shell and tube, among others), providing experimental data to analyze thermal behavior, characteristic curves, and the efficiency of each design. With this unit, students can compare different exchanger configurations and understand how to select the most appropriate one for specific industrial applications.

LIFLUBA: An easy and effective way to learn hydraulics

In addition to this equipment, the installation was completed with several modules from the Basic Fluid Mechanics Integrated Laboratory (LIFLUBA), one of EDIBON’s most versatile product lines. LIFLUBA has been designed to facilitate the learning of fundamental laws of hydraulics in an intuitive, visual, and practical manner.

Each module enables experiments on essential phenomena such as static and dynamic pressure, Bernoulli’s principle, head losses, flow measurement, open-channel flow, and many more. This modular approach gives educators the flexibility to adapt the content to various training levels, from introductory sessions to advanced laboratory practices.

Students, in turn, can directly manipulate unit components, interpret experimental results, compare theoretical models with real data, and gain confidence in using professional hydraulic instrumentation.
